Modern ventilation units are increasingly equipped with advanced solutions aimed at enhancing user comfort. One such feature, found in ARIA VITALE heat recovery units (Gold CF and Platinum CF models), is the constant airflow sensor (CF). Its purpose is to continuously monitor airflow and respond to any changes that may occur in the system, ensuring a stable stream of supply and exhaust air.
The constant airflow sensor operates using specialized transducers and an electronic system that measure and regulate the fans’ performance. These transducers are installed in two key locations – in the supply and exhaust fan sections. By reading pressure differences, the system reacts instantly to changes, optimizing the unit’s operation.
The CF sensor plays a crucial role when the ventilation system is first started. For example, if the airflow is set to 250 m³/h, the unit will operate until this set airflow is achieved. If the target is not reached, it could indicate that the unit is improperly sized in terms of capacity or that the fans have insufficient pressure capacity to overcome the system’s resistance.
When the unit is correctly sized, the CF system monitors airflow during everyday use and responds to any changes that may arise. For instance, a clogged filter can increase resistance, requiring additional fan power. The CF is also helpful in models with an enthalpy exchanger, where water passing into the supply section can block channels. In such cases, the CF quickly clears the water, enhancing heat and moisture recovery efficiency and maintaining constant air parameters. Another factor influenced by the CF system is the clogging of air intakes or changes in damper settings within the building. In such situations, CF ensures system stability by regulating airflow.
Importantly, the constant airflow sensor takes priority over user settings. This means that even if the user manually sets a lower airflow, the system may not achieve the desired airflow if issues like clogged filters or installation errors create additional resistance. In such cases, the CF sensor automatically adjusts the unit’s operation to minimize the impact of these problems, ensuring optimal performance of the ventilation system. Therefore, it is essential to regularly check the condition of the filters and replace them according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Thanks to the constant airflow sensor, users can be confident that ventilation in their building is operating optimally. CF ensures stable airflow, eliminating the risk of overpressure or underpressure, which could affect the comfort and functionality of the building.
